Matter is a New York based design gallery and showroom representing a deftly curated group of emerging and established international designers and artists. Originally founded in 2003 by Jamie Gray, Matter organizes a year-round exhibition program in its current space in lower Manhattan.

In May of 2010 Matter launched MatterMade, a collection of small batch and limited edition works consisting of furniture, lighting and accessories. MatterMade envisions a domestically sourced and manufactured collection that draws inspiration from America's rich craft tradition and design history while collaborating with some of the brightest talents in American art and design. MatterMade's mission is to offer an alternative to mass production by setting a new standard in luxury American craft for the contemporary market.
