transFORM at Luminaire Lab

Luminaire Lab is pleased to present transFORM, an unparalleled installation that will showcase work created by designers who operate outside the confines of nationality and reject traditional archetypes in an exhibition that will be experimental and multi-sensory. Going beyond form to explore how various combinations of materials, movement and sound can serve as tools of communication, the exhibition will feature work by both established and up-and-coming luminaries, enticing visitors to experience the unlimited possibilities of design and explore its potential to inspire investigation and discovery.

Highlighting the work of iconic master Angelo Mangiarotti, the Lab will present historic and contemporary designs that mark the current collaboration of AgapeCasa and Studio Mangiarotti. Also from Italy will be a display of objects by the Italian avant-garde collective Gruppo T, produced by Officina Alessi, and a very unique series of work by contemporary design consortium Ad Memoriam, which explores the idea of complex vessels that contain hidden secrets. Rising design stars at the Lab will include François Brument, whose one-of-a-kind vases result from sound waves combined with digital 3D modeling techniques, as well as a site-specific installation by Japanese designer Nao Tamura. Additionally, the Lab is very pleased to present an installation of work by Konstantin Grcic, Design Miami’s 2010 Designer of the Year.
